'Rizzoli & Isles' Actor Lee Thompson Young Dead After Apparent Suicide

Actor Lee Thompson Young, best known for his roles on TNT's police drama "Rizzoli & Isles" and on the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson," is dead at age 29. Law enforcement officials as well as sources close to the actor confirm that he appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to TMZ, Young's L.A. landlord found the actor's body after receiving a call from the "Rizzoli & Isles" production office after the actor failed to report to work Monday morning. Young played Det. Barry Frost, partner to Jane Rizzoli, played by Angie Harmon. The show is currently in production on its fourth season and TNT had already picked up the series for a fifth season. Young's first major acting role came in 1998, when he was cast as the lead role in the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson." Young played a teenage celebrity trying to live a normal life as high schooler in the series, which ran three seasons.

"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning," said Young’s manager, Jonathan Baruch, in a statement issued Monday morning. "Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends at this very difficult time."
