NBC Orders Second Season Of 'The Carmichael Show'

Despite its best efforts, NBC has managed to launch a successful new comedy.

The network has renewed THE CARMICHAEL SHOW for a second season, following the unexpected success of the show. NBC had only ordered a six-episode season, then burned off the episodes two at a time over three weeks in late August and early September.

But the show did well in the ratings and garnered an impressive amount of critical acclaim from TV critics, some of whom described the show as having a modern-day Norman Lear feel.

While it was good news for THE CARMICHAEL SHOW, it was a less exciting day for the cast and crew of the other new NBC summer comedy MR. Robinson. The network announced on Monday that it was canceling the show following its six-episode season one run.
