Ex-NBC Exec Vivian Schiller Exits Twitter

Vivian Schiller, who left NBC last year to become the head of news partnerships at Twitter is leaving the company.

Schiller was the head of NBC's digital unit until last October, when she left to join Twitter and oversee partnerships with news organizations like NBC, NPR and The New York Times. She was also tasked with helping the company become an integral tool for journalists.

The news partnership efforts at Twitter will now be rolled into politics, which is currently headed up by Adam Sharp. Sources inside the social messaging company describe as the move as a "consolidation."

On Wednesday evening, Schiller tweeted these messages to her followers:

1/3 Stepping down from Twitter so new global media lead @katies can reorganize as she sees fit. Wish everyone at twitter nothing but best.

2/3 Many thanks to @chloes and @rowghani for convincing me to come work at Twitter. It was a fascinating experience.

3/3 And mostly, thanks to all the great journalists and newsrooms I collaborated with. Your innovation & creativity is an inspiration.
