Netflix Hires Director Of Originals For Australia
While streaming giant Netflix hasn't yet made significant progress with its plans to increase original productions in Australia, a recent hire suggests they are preparing to ramp up their efforts.
Former ABC executive Que Minh Luu tweeted out on Friday that she is headed to Netflix as that company's new Director, Local Originals for Australia. She will be based in Sydney.
So far, the most significant Netflix Original to come out of the Australian market in 2018's "Tidelands."
One of Luu's many responsibilities will be working with talent developed from the recent Netflix Bunya Talent Indigenous Hub. Presented in association with Screen Australia Indigenous Department, the Bunya Talent Indigenous Hub was a five-day talent incubator aimed at mid-career Indigenous writers, showrunners, directors and producers.
