Late last year, "The Grand Tour" hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May announced a new deal with Amazon that would include new seasons of the show, along with individual solo shows from each of them. The first new series was just announced on Wednesday - a new engineering/survival reality series starring Hammond and "Mythbusters" co-host Tory Belleci.
The show was announced by Georgia Brown, director of European Amazon original series, who was speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival. The still-untitled series will feature the duo being shipwrecked on a deserted island. Their task is to use the resources at hand as well as items retrieved from the shipwreck to survive and hopefully build an island paradise.
"Somebody needs to take hold of Popular Science as a genre and reinvent it for a new age. And there are only two people to do that job. Unfortunately neither of them are available so it’s me and Tory Belleci," said Hammond in a statement.
The series will be executive produced by Gareth Cornick and the series producer is Samuel Simon.
The six-part series will be available on Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.
