Live Local News App NewsOn Launches With 118 Stations

One of the driving forces behind the success of the CBS paid streaming app CBS All Access is its ability to include live streams of many local CBS affiliates bundled into the platform. Now CBS has a solid competitor, with the launch of the new live local news app NewsOn.

NewsON is a joint venture with six large TV station groups who are also providing video content: ABC Owned Television Station Group, Cox Media Group, Hearst Television, Media General, Hubbard Broadcasting and Raycom Media. The app will also include stations from Graham Holdings as well as several of the larger Tenga-owned television stations. At launch, NewsON features video content from 118 stations in 90 markets, covering approximately 75% of the United States and all of the ten largest markets.

The NewsOn app is available on Apple iPhone and iPad, Android phone and tablet, as well as on the Roku platform for Roku players, Roku streaming sticks and Roku TVs.
