Today's Song You Should Know: Trini Triggs - 'The Wrecking Crew'

I've always been a sucker for rollicking songs that have those semi-cute play on words so common in old-school country tunes. "The Wrecking Crew" is one of those songs, with this hook-filled chorus:

Yeah, I tried to blame you
When that wrecking ball came crashing through
But when the dust cleared, I saw the truth
I was the boss of the wrecking crew

Trini Triggs is country singer and his moment in the sun was a short one. He released three singles off his debut 1999 album, all of them charting in the middle of the Country Top 100 chart. "The Wreckin' Crew" was single number three and it only managed to reach #62 on the charts. He released a couple of singles in 2002 that didn't chart and the 2004 single "Heaven On Earth" only reached #59 on the country charts.

If you're a fan of 1990s-style country, you'll love "The Wrecking Crew." It's got a great, upbeat sound and it's one of those tunes that you find yourself singing in the car at the top of your lungs without even realizing it.

I've included the music video for the track below. It obviously cost about $100 to out together, but it's got a great goofy charm and it even includes a bit of what looks to be early country twerking.
