Hulu Live TV Plagued By Problems During Wednesday's Live Democratic Debate
There is never a good time for a streaming television service to have technical issues. But it's especially bad news when the problems take place during a high-profile live event.
Unfortunately for Hulu Live TV, that was precisely the problem faced by an unknown number of its customers Wednesday evening, who reported on social media that their NBC or MSNBC feed of the live Democratic Presidential Debate had stopped working. Many of the complaints posted on Twitter were similar to the problems I had with my home account: the stream began repeating the same couple of minutes on a loop and then just stopped working altogether. While I noticed it first on the debate coverage, it seems to be part of a much larger outage across multiple parts of the Hulu Live TV service, including its DVR function.
@hulu_support why is Hulu Live down in the SF Bay Area???? During presidential debates? Unbelievable. Wonder if it’s time to exit my 2 year relationship with y’all

@hulu_support Trying to watch the #DemocraticDebates but I keep getting playback failure. Stuck on the same time mark and keeps looping. What can I do?

It won’t even let me go live. It’s stuck on a loop and then rewinding backward. Hulu your live tv sucks so much I’m legit considering going back to @DIRECTV

@hulu_support wanna explain why I can't get past 28:39 of the #USMNT game? I have watched us line up for a free kick about 5 times

It's unclear how widespread the issue was or what might have been the cause. I'm still awaiting an official response to my request to Hulu, but based on the frantic tweeting of apologies from the Hulu Support Twitter account, it appears to be more than just a random issue for a few customers.
Sorry for the difficulties this evening! We’ve got all hands on deck working to get this issue sorted out. For now, you can stream with your Hulu credentials on our network partners’ apps: https://t.co/qxlmnIPbSj. We truly appreciate your patience as we work on this!
