Keira Knightley Talks About Choosing Lighter Movie Roles With 'CBS Sunday Morning With Charles Osgood'

After starring in a string of successful dramatic roles, critically praised actress Keira Knightley needed to lighten up a bit, she tells CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD, to be broadcast July 13, 2014 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.
"I was actually told, I think this morning, that in the last five years I made 10 films, and I died in seven of them," Knightley tells Phillips. "So I sort of thought at the end of ‘Anna Karenina’ that I should maybe do something that had a least a little hope in it."
That role came in “Begin Again,” a romantic comedy where she plays a struggling singer. To prepare for the part, she learned some basic guitar playing, and does all her own singing.
Knightly talks with Phillips about the film, her career, false tabloid stories about her living on $80,000 a year despite being one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, and whether having a baby is in her future.
"Before you get married everyone [is] going, ‘are you going to get married, when are you going to get married?’” says Knightly, who is married to rocker James Righton. “When you get married, everyone is like, ‘when are you going to have a baby?’ I don’t know, I don’t know. Hopefully someday, but I haven’t got any plans for the moment."
CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
