Conan and his true love, Tamira are captured by the wizard, Yara, who traps her soul in a mirror and forces Conan to fight as a gladiator. Conan, along with Vulkar and Zzeben, escape with the other fighters. While Conan goes after Yara, the others set out to raise an army to defeat Cimmeria's cruel rler, the all-powerful sorcerer, Hissah Zul.

Alone, Conan fights a mummy for control of the legendary Sword of Atlantis. Victorious, he has a vision in which the great god Crem tells Conan he is destined to become King of Cimmeria and must kill Hissah Zul.

When Conan finds Yara, the wizard will only free Tamira's soul if Conan steals a fabulous diamond, the Heart of the Elephant, located in a tower guarded by a fabulous creature, Yag-Kosha. Outside the tower Conan and his new friend Otli are joined by Karella, a bandit queen who wants the emerald for herself. Conan and Karella break into the tower and are faced by Spydra,a half-woman, half soider. Karella runs, leaving Conan to kill the spider and confront Yag-Kosha. The creature hates Yara and begs Conan to help him get his revenge. In exchange for the emerald, Conan must promise to kill Yag-Kosha and squeeze the blood from his heart onto the emerald. The blood casts a spell on the jewel that, when given to Yara, sucks the wizard into the emerald, trapping him forever.

Meanwhile, Hissah Zul's General Goroth has mortally wounded Tamira, who dies in Conan's arms. A grieving Conan rejoins Vulkar, ZZeben and Otli. With the army they've raised, they all march to Hissah Zul's castle and defeats his soldiers. Trapped, Hissah Zul magically makes himself and his castle vanish.
