| Synopsis: Sophie Kerr, her mom
Lynn and older sister Karen, live in a tiny town in New Mexico. Trouble
is, their dreams are waiting in New York City. So when Sophie gets a full
scholarship to Brighton, a prestigious Manhattan prep school, the Kerrs
pack their stuff and leave their baggage behind. It's so-long small-town
ways and hello to a new world loaded with possibilities and full of surprises.... For Sophie (Sarah Foret), it's a world where an out-of-towner might as well be from outer space. At her new school, the student roster reads like a Who's Who In New York society and the richest, snobbiest kids, known as the Beautfiul People, run the show. The "BP's" can make life miserable for a stranger as independent and sensitive as Sophie, but she's determined to make it work because Brighton holds the key to her future. Good thing there are some friendly faces, but who can Sophie really trust? And can she be true to herself and not be relegated to social Siberia or worse? Karen (Torrey DeVitto) was a model back home and she dreams of making the big time in New York. But Karen learns that in New York there is always somebdy more beautiful so there are sacrifices she must make. But as Karen delves into the seedier side of the city. will she go too far as she discovers just how ugly the business of beauty can be? Looking for a fresh start after a failed marriage, Lynn (Daphne Zuniga) revives her dream of becoming a fashion designer. When she gets a job in fashion she couldn't be happier, until she gets the surprise of her life. She runs into a long-lost boyfriend who happens to be the married father of one of Sophie's schoolmates. Can Lynn stay focused on her dream or will she be driven to distraction by an old love? Chasing their dreams won't be easy but they're not afraid. They've made it this far and suddenly, for the first time, anything seems possible. Along the way they'll come face to face with new challenges, situations and people who'll test them in every way. But if they stick together, Sophie, Lynn and Karen just might teach New York a thing or two...like what it really means to be "Beautiful People."
