Synopsis: A small-town insurance salesman and former
high school football star found a new lease on life coaching his old
team in this warm, down-home series. Sumpter, Texas, was football-obsessed,
but its team - The Sumpter Mustangs - was in a very long slump.
Ed Clemons was given exactly one year to turn things around.
He knew it was a big challenge but a lot more fun than insurance, so
he turned the business over to his wife, Maggie and tackled his new
job with blinding self-confidence.
Trouble came quickly when he replaced insolent quarterback
Bobby Taylor with his own son, Joe Willie, who was a star in the making.
Pushing Ed hard from the sidelines was loud auto salesman Niles (Niles
Autorama), president of the team booster club.
Jill was Ed's oldest daughter, who visited sometimes from
college, and Jenny was his youngest. Abel was his assistant coach.
