Snapchat Discover Adds Refinery29

Fashion and beauty site Refinery29 is the the publisher to be added to the Snapchat Discover platform. The site was added Monday morning and it marks the third time since July that Snapchat has swapped out or added publishers. The platform currently only supports 15 publishers at one time, although the company says it intends to increase that number later this year.

Discover is the part of Snapchat where publishers can post stories or videos that expire in 24 hours. Nearly all of the publishers involved have hired people specifically to create content for the platform. In a release announcing its addition to Discover, Refinery29 says it plans to hire a ten-person team to create the content.

Snapchat's Discover holds several attractions for publishers aside from the service's 100 million or so users. Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore said in an interview last month that the site's traffic has increased more than twenty percent since it was added to the platform. Refinery29 co-founder and co-CEO Philippe von Borries told re/code that the deal allowed the site to continue a deal with Unilever, who will advertise extensively on Refinery29's Discover channel.
