Fox News Channel Topped All Basic Cable Primetime For Full Quarter For First Time In Network History
For the first time in its history, FOX News Channel (FNC) was the number one network in basic cable primetime for an entire quarter, topping all other cable channels including ESPN, USA, and TNT, according to Nielsen Media Research.
In the 3rd Quarter of 2015, FNC surpassed a network and basic cable milestone with the telecast of the primetime Republican Presidential debate on August 6th, delivering 24 million total viewers and 7.9 million in the key 25-54 demo, making it the highest-rated non-sports cable telecast of all time. FNC posted double-digit increases in both primetime total viewers and the key 25-54 demo over the same time last year averaging 1,952,000 in total viewers (up 10%) and 395,000 in the key demo (up 28%). Additionally, FNC notched the top 14 cable news programs in total viewers and the top 10 programs in the key demo for ‘3Q 2015.
