The ceremony took place at the Universal Amphitheatre in Universal
City, California on Sunday, August 4th. An edited version was

Notes on
Winners
- "Friends’"
award for Choice TV Comedy is its fourth consecutive win. This
series is the only four-time winner in any category in the history
of the Teen Choice Awards.
- Britney
Spears’ win for Choice Female Artist is her third consecutive
win in this category. Her Choice Female Hottie Award is her
second in a row. She has a total of six Teen Choice Awards.
- Kobe Bryant’s
win for Choice Male Athlete is his third win in four years (Shaquille
O’Neal won last year). The Los Angeles Lakers are the only professional
sports team to win this award.
- Sarah Michelle
Gellar’s win for Choice TV Actress is her eighth award overall
– more than any other female. This is also her third win in
four years in this category (Jessica Alba won last year).
- *NSync’s
two awards give the band a total of 10 -- more than any other
musical act.
- Justin
Timberlake has the most awards of anyone, with a total of 12
(10 with *NSYNC and two as Choice Male Hottie).
- "Mr. Deeds"
is Adam Sandler’s second Choice Movie of the Summer award (the
other was for "Big Daddy"). He also won Choice Comedian for
the second consecutive year.
- This is
"7th Heaven’s" second consecutive win as Choice TV Drama.
- Jennifer
Love Hewitt, who performed on the show, has previously won two
Teen Choice Awards -- Choice TV Actress (for "Party of Five")
and Choice Female Hottie -- both in 1999.
