1998 Creative Emmy Awards

The Creative Arts Emmys were awarded on Saturday night in a non-televised ceremony. A one-hour edited version of this ceremony will be broadcast on Friday, September 11th at 8pm EST on the cable channel TV LAND.

NBC won 12 awards, followed by HBO and ABC's eight. Fox won six, and PBS and CBS won four each.

Mel Brooks won an award for his guest spot as "Uncle Phil" on MAD ABOUT YOU, and Emma Thompson won for her guest turn on ELLEN. THE SIMPSONS were awarded an Emmy for outstanding animated prgoram, and Apple Computers won an Emmy for their "Think Different" advertising campaign.

Emmys for the 28 major categories will be presented in a live four-hour ceremony that airs at 7pm, September 13th, on NBC.
