Directors Guild Announces Nominations for Its 2001 Film and TV
Awards
LOS ANGELES--Jan.
15, 2002--The Art Directors Guild (ADG) today announced nominations
in six categories of Production Design for motion pictures and
television competing in the ADG's Sixth Annual Excellence in Production
Design Awards for the year 2001. Announcements of nominations
were jointly made today by ADG's President Jack De Govia and Awards
Chairman Dahl Delu. Deadline for final voting by the 1,000 members
of ADG is February 19. Black-tie ceremonies announcing winners
will take place Saturday, February 23, from the International
Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
At the ceremony
Ken Adam will be presented a Lifetime Achievement honor. Adam
is a two-time Oscar® winner ("Barry Lyndon,'' 1976; "The
Madness of King George,'' 1995) and the man who created "The
Bond Look'' by doing the production design on seven James Bond
films including "Dr. No'' (the first in the series) and "Goldfinger.''
The Guild will announce the recipient of its Cinematic Imagery
Award next week.
This year
marks the second for two new categories in the competition. Excellence
in Production Design for a Feature Film was split last year into
Excellence in a Contemporary Feature and Excellence in a Period/Fantasy
Feature. Excellence in Production Design for a Television Series
was also split last year into Excellence in a Single Camera Series
and Excellence in a Multi-Camera series.
