First Britney Spears, then Amy Winehouse.
Television is apparently turning into a refuge for troubled singers,
as Amy Winehouse is reported to have signed a deal to appear on an upcoming
episode of the reimagined British series "Dr. Who."
NME magazine reports that songstress will reprise the role of the
villainess The Rani, an evil scientific genius rouge time lord. The
character originally appeared in the 1980s version of the show, played
by actress Kate O'Mara.
Winehouse hasn't had an acting job since she was expelled at age fourteen
from the famed Sylvia Young Theatre School for 'not applying herself'
and piercing her nose.
According to NME, Winehouse is a "massive fan" of the show, and was
a "total Dr. Who nerd as a kid."
Singers Billie Piper and Kylie Minogue have recently appeared on the
show, which airs in the United States on BBC America and the Sci Fi
Network.
(Yes, we do realize it's a joke. We would have done this story on April
1st, but we have a small staff, so we're running a bit late).
